NEBOSH. Why Weekly Training Beats a Compressed Intensive Course

Delivering our 12-day training programme one day per week, rather than compressing learning into two intensive working weeks, offers clear advantages for both learners and organisations.

From a learning perspective, spacing sessions over time significantly improves retention. Participants have time to reflect on new concepts, revisit ideas, and consolidate understanding, rather than absorbing large volumes of content in a short period and quickly forgetting it. This “spaced learning” approach is proven to lead to deeper and longer-lasting learning.

Weekly delivery also allows participants to apply what they’ve learned in the workplace between sessions. They can test tools, techniques, and behaviours in real situations, then return with questions and insights. This creates a continuous cycle of learning, practice, and improvement—something a compressed format simply can’t offer.

For skills-based or behavioural programmes, time is essential. Meaningful change happens gradually, through repetition, reflection, and feedback. A weekly structure supports habit formation and sustained performance improvement, rather than short-term knowledge gains.

There are practical benefits too. One training day per week is often easier for organisations to accommodate, reducing disruption and making attendance more realistic. Participants also remain more engaged and energised, avoiding the fatigue that often comes with long, consecutive training days.

Ultimately, while a weekly programme takes longer in calendar terms, it delivers higher-quality learning, better application, and stronger long-term results—making it a more effective and valuable approach for everyone involved.

Our results speak for themselves. Most of the Health and Safety managers in Derbyshire manufacturing or service companies have the Train to Safety NEBOSH badge. The pass rates we have achieved for the one day per week compare significantly for the lower scoring block booking. Train to Safety ONLY provide the highest quality of training.

Our next course commences on 9th March. We have another course starting 1st June. There has never been a more important time for upskilling.
